Columns that make an open house list useful

    ColumnWhy it earns its place
NameThe line everyone fills in first.
Phone and emailHow you reach them after the weekend. Ask for both; many people only write one.
ZIP codeA quick sign of who is a neighbor and who has come a long way.
Working with an agent?Yes means they already have help, so a follow-up call may not be welcome.
Pre-approved?Add this yourself with the yes or no type if financing matters to you.

    Setting up the table

    1. Print two copies, so one can fill up while the other is in use.
    2. Add a pen on a string or a clipboard so the sheet does not wander.
    3. Say what the details are for with the footer note, for example “Used only to follow up about this property.”
    4. Keep earlier visitors’ lines out of sight when you can: fold the sheet back or use a clipboard with a cover.

When you want more than a name

The open house feedback form asks what visitors thought of the price, layout and condition. If you want your own photo and contact details on the header, see the agent-branded version.

    Questions

What should an open house sign in sheet ask for?

Name, phone and email are the core. A ZIP code tells you whether visitors live nearby, and “Working with an agent?” tells you whether you can follow up or should leave them alone.

    How do I add a pre-approved column?

Press “Add column” in step 2, pick the yes or no type, and name it “Pre-approved?”. It appears on the sheet as Y and N circles.

Should the sheet be portrait or landscape?

Landscape gives phone and email cells more width. Portrait fits more rows. If you expect a busy day, choose portrait and two pages.

Can I put the property address on the sheet?

Yes. Type it in the subtitle. Leave the date and location empty to print write-in lines instead.

Is a paper sheet or a QR code better at the door?

Paper works for everyone and never runs out of battery. A QR code spares you from reading handwriting. Many hosts put both out; the digital option is in step 5.
